Happy New Year….The Countdown to April 15th begins!

Hello Everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are approaching 2012 with fresh ideas and realistic resolutions.

January also begins the official “Tax Season” for 2011 tax returns.  During the month of January, you should be receiving various documents from banks, mortgage companies, employers, contractors (if you worked for them), reporting important information that will be needed for your 2011 tax return (Forms W-2, 1099-Misc, 1098, etc).

They should all be delivered to you by January 31st.  Hold onto them, and be sure to present them to your Tax Preparer at tax time!

If you are interested in having me prepare your tax return for 2011 (and you are not already a client), please let me know so that I can send you a 2011 Tax Organizer.  It is a document which not only assists me in making sure I have all your information, it will help “jog” your memory about tax items you may have forgotten about.

As April 15th gets closer  (March 15 for corporate filers), it is important to remember that I prepare tax returns on a first come, first served basis, so don’t wait until the last minute to send me your information!  Even if you are missing one or two pieces of information, send the package in anyway to get a place in line.  If I do not receive your information by April 1, 2012,  I cannot guarantee that the return will be filed by April 15th (but we can always file an extension).

Again, Happy New Year, and send me an email if you have any questions.

Best,

Mary “Lee” Miller, EA
